Parenting Wars
Do or do not - there is no try. The ins and outs of one of the most difficult jobs on earth: parenting.
Being a Parent With Anxiety
Being a parent with anxiety is a struggle. Always worrying, never being able to stop the never-ending train of thought; at times it may seem like too much to bear. Like you're drowning in a sea of self- doubt. You worry whether or not you're doing it right, or questioning whether you're a good parent. It seems like no matter what you do you're constantly asking yourself if you made the right decision. Dealing with anxiety alone is a struggle. But being a parent with an anxiety disorder is a whole different ballgame. As a parent with an anxiety disorder, I can personally relate to all of the above. And if you find yourself in the same boat, you know it's not easy. It's an everyday struggle. And it doesn't get any easier. But there are ways to cope. Whether you are taking medication or not, these are all things we worry about when raising children.

Okay, first of all; there is no survival guide... Seriously. I wasted too much money and time on baby books. Put them down. Throw them away. Or keep them to wipe your postnatal tears with, whatever. But they are useless. Fuck them off.

I became a mom in 2018. Before I had my baby, I never realized how hard moms had it. Not only is there a struggle to be the best mom you can be, there are also people surrounding you thinking they should give “good” advice. There are people around you judging every move you make.
Courtney KellerPublished 6 years ago in FamiliesThings Parents Let Their Kids Do That Horrify Me Now That I'm a Mom
I wasn't 100% on being a mom before I was one. Now that I am one, it's 100% what I want to be. I am fierce. I am a snarling mama bear who will go full savage at a PTA meeting if need be. I keep my kids away from refined sugar, video games, and bad influences; but I worry about other parents and their kids sometimes. I can't raise other people's kids for them and I wouldn't want to, but I do want them to raise their kids exactly how I would. These are the things parents let their kids do that horrify me now that I'm a mom.

We live in a culture that seems to believe that newborns need some form of independence. People seem to believe that you can hold a baby too much, cuddle them too much, and basically love them too much.

Hello. Quick notice that yes my English is very poor and my pieces are quite opinionated. If you can handle both of these, then welcome and please enjoy reading. If you fancy it, then leave me your thoughts and opinions.
One Day at a Time
Happy birthday! As you sit and watch your precious little baby start to stuff that sugary rich cake in his mouth, you can’t help but think back on the last three years and just take it all in. This is so exciting! Your child just became what some affectionately call a threenager. Congratulations!

Never in my life have I felt so alone, tired and trapped. When I fell pregnant, I never imagined I would use my breast pump for anything more than preparing some bottles for a couple of hours of being away from my baby.

Social media is bursting with angry parents at the moment, children screaming at the parents because he or she didn't get the "Victory Royale."
In All honestyPublished 6 years ago in FamiliesMaking Peace with the Fact That Your Child Needs Friends, Other than Yourself
I have tried to avoid eye contact with mothers wanting their kid to have a play date with my son for long enough. It’s not that I’m a self-controlling mom who wants her son all to herself, dooming him to a life of ongoing therapy. I’m not that needy, seriously. The dream of watching my son become a responsible man and leaving the nest as soon as possible is real. My issue is discovering how to maneuver my way around the land mines of guns, drugs, pedophiles, and thieves.

My son turned five months old as of today. He is a happy, healthy, and alert infant. We are truly blessed and are amazed at how much he has grown, especially considering that he was born six weeks early. People say that raising a child is the hardest yet most rewarding thing you will ever do, and I completely understand that statement. The baby books can only prepare you for so much. 99% of the time is great. Watching TV with him, feeding him while he strokes my beard and stares up at me. I can only hope that I always do right by him, and set a good example for him.

The moment you find out you're going to be a parent is incredible and unique. Some feel scared, others excited, and to some it is even akin to a miracle. No matter your initial feeling, each parent-to-be eventually comes to the same question: "But how do you parent?"
