Brushed Aside or Being Kind?
Have you ever been treated like you didn't know anything by someone you respected? Yeah? Me too. It doesn't feel great does it? Nope. I had that happen to me recently. He brushed my whole well worded (Possibly misspelled in some areas... its Twitter, you can't edit anything...) argument for a book I love. He is a massive Youtuber, and I was hoping to have an intelligent book discussion, but he brushed me off. He is a part of what is lovingly called "booktube." You may know who I'm talking about, but I'm not going to call him out here. That's not really what this is about. I'm going to talk about the situation and describe my thoughts on it.

The Subs vs Dubs War
Subs vs dubs. This has to be the most gatekeeping thing that has happened in the Anime community. I am so sick of scrolling through my various Anime, nerd and geek groups on Facebook and seeing the smug attitudes of the subbed Anime viewers. I almost see them like Boa Handcock from "One Piece." Their heads thrown back so much to look down on dub viewers that they're looking to the sky and it looks as if they would break their backs. Its not their superiority that bugs me the most, though; it's the lack of ability to think of WHY others may prefer Dubs to Subs. Most subbed watchers seem to have next to no empathy for the dub watchers in their community.

"That's How It Is"
I've been feeling helpless lately... and not in the good, happy, falling in love type way Eliza does in "Hamilton..." in the dejected, lonely, frustrated until anger type way. I feel like I see all of this injustice and there's nothing I can do about it. I'm a poor kid from a rural area. I see people be treated badly, no matter their age, race, religion, gender, lack of gender, sexual orientation, et cetera. I see all of these awful toxic people winning and then out populating the good non-toxic people (which still do have some toxic traits, but eh, no ones perfect) who are biting the big one. I talk about it and always get the same answer: "Is the way it is." Usually with a dismissive shrug. I'm so sick of that answer. I want something to change, nay I need something to change!

I know a Murderer
The title says it all: I know a murderer. He's a recent murderer. He murdered for the first time September 16, 2020. It's the only murderer I know. Period. This man I let in my home, I let him hold my child, I let him eat my food, breathe the same air, use my stuff. It's been about a week since this murder happened, and it took me a long time to process it. I know it doesn't seem like a "long time" in the scope of most things, but for someone who reads about a lot of crap on the news, it was a long time for me, especially because there are many dynamics that I had to break down to get to this point.

Go Vote!
Let me tell you a story... Once upon a time, a young mother didn't have the ability to drive, no ride, and her polling place was so far away, and along a dangerous highway that she didn't risk walking there with her 1 year old son. This difficulty made it so she couldn't vote. That year a horrible sexist, homophobic, lying, maniacal maniac was voted into office. At first she was happy to be able to say she didn't vote, but she learned slowly but surely that her vote mattered. Fast forward to now: Here she is writing this article.

Empathy vs. Judgement
Empathy is so important to human life. Judgement not so much. There is so much judgment in the world, especially on online articles. These articles can be from anywhere in the world, and because we are anonymous online, most of us become keyboard warriors. These keyboard warriors can fight for the right reasons, or they can fight for the wrong reasons. The ones that fight for the wrong reasons are usually trolls. Judgement on online articles attracts both type of warriors. They also attract one more: the everyday browser. These browsers have the option to think with empathy or judgement. They have the tendency to judge someone based on one article. This is wrong, in many instances. I know what its like to be on the receiving end of that misplaced judgement.

My Take on "The Batman" Trailer
WARNING: This is not a shot by shot breakdown. This is my feelings and opinions and impressions based on what I saw. Here we go again, a new reboot, a new actor and still no campy-ness. I will be the first person to admit I loved the old campy Batman films! Tim Burton started it all with 1984's Batman and whoo boy! After I had watched Batman: The Animated Series based on this campy telling of the Batman comic books I was in love. I loved the aesthetic the art deco style really captured my imagination and made is a bit spooky for me as a kid. I loved the music it could get me excited like the main theme, could make me scared. The music that plays over the scene of Joker's henchmen driving the trash barges in the episode The Last Laugh is a great example. I then watched the movies, and I loved them. Whether it was Michael Keaton, George Clooney or Val Kilmer, who played Batman I loved the comic book feeling of those films. I loved Batman up until the Nolan films. I could go on and on about the animated series and the pre-Nolan Batman films. That could be another article all on its own. This article is to talk about the trailer for the new film, The Batman.

Career Change?
Have you ever become unsatisfied with your current career path? I'm sure many people have been. I had been pretty satisfied with my career path. It isn't the most glamorous, nor the best career nor even the most lucrative. I was a retail worker. I loved it for a long time, especially when I was working for the right store.

New Account, New Adventure
Well, when I started my journey with my original account here on vocal I thought that I'd be there forever, but once I learned that because of some personal reasons that I would not be able to change the information on my old stripe account without engaging with someone from my past that is dangerous and toxic - well here I am. New account, new me I guess. That's just how its going to have to go isn't it? I have no other choice, am going to miss my old articles, and on the revenue I could be getting from those articles. Heck, a $20.00 tip went straight to my ex. I didn't see a penny of it. Ah, well. At least I hadn't gotten very popular.

My Thoughts on the Anime Civil War
I have many thoughts on the whole Funimation business that all started with HanLeia's accusation against Vic Mignogna. It has been eight, almost nine, months since this whole mess started. There have been many things that came out just in the last month that has changed the entire situation. I think Vic is innocent of the things he has been accused of. HanLeia accused Vic of being a sexual predator and that he had been inappropriate with her, and with another woman in an elevator and it made her uncomfortable. She then later said that he had married a 16 year old in Las Vegas, which is completely FALSE! That was another former voice actor by the name of Illich Guardiola. He had fled with his bride to Las Vegas to marry with the consent of the girl's mother. Investigators suspect to cover up any premarital relations. Okay, the first attack was proven false.

An Open Letter to All Educators in the United States and Beyond
Dear Educators of the World, I recently read a news article about a mother going into a school in South Carolina classroom and confronting the kids in there for bullying her son. I don't blame her. If the teachers and the other staff did their jobs, instead of letting her son be harassed and physically abused then, she wouldn't have to do their jobs for them.
