Top 5 Baby Items Used During Micro Preemie's First Year

A Preemie Mom's Favorite Products

My daughter was born at 25 weeks gestation. That is 15 weeks early! I'd been around preemie's before, but never any that early. I had many baby items at my disposal, but some were my favorites. They were used over and over again. I wanted to share what the items are so mom's with new babies, both premature and term, will be able to use them.

#1 Puj Tub

The number one this is probably my favorite thing that I used when my daughter came home fresh from the NICU. It's called the Puj Tub. My best friend's mom gave me the puj tub after my daughter was born. It was a life saver! It's soft and cradles babies perfectly. There are magnets that snap together to make the tub shape. It is designed to fit in any standard bathroom sink. When you are finished the magnets come apart so you can hang the tub to drip dry.

My daughter used it for months!

#2 Infantino Go GaGa Deluxe Twist & Fold Gym

Before I got pregnant, I saw this and told my husband that I wanted it whenever we had a baby. This adorable play mat (that you can only get at Target) is big, soft, plays calming music, and has unique colors. I could have put my baby on a blanket with a few toys, but I liked knowing everything I needed was in one place ready to go.

#3 Rock and Play

She used it for so long! I actually had to convince myself that she was finally too big for it. She would sleep in it next to my bed, sleep in it for naps, and take bottles in it. The convenience won me over. My husband liked that it didn't weight a ton. He could easily bring it to me if I needed it. The day I put it away broke my heart. I hold onto hope that I'll have another baby someday who will use it as much as my daughter did.

#4 Motorola Monitor

I became used to my daughter sleeping next to me. When we finally moved her to her crib I couldn't sleep at night. I worried about her constantly. But when we put up the monitor it gave me peace of mind. I could see her and hear her. One night, she felt frustrated and couldn't get to sleep. I played the music on the monitor and watched her instantly calm down. When she got older I would use the microphone to speak to her. Hearing my voice brought her comfort. We plan on using it well into her toddler years.

#5 Dr. Brown Bottles

From the NICU to home, we used Dr. Brown bottles. There are so many bottles out there, but her NICU nurses recommended Dr. Brown. They helped keep air bubbles out of her milk which helped her not have gas. I would have breastfeed her if my milk supply had lasted. My supply was plentiful until she came home. Not having her home didn't help my body produce milk for long. To keep both her and I stress-free, I switched to a preemie formula. If we have more children and I can't breastfeed I plan to use Dr. Brown bottles again.

I hope this helps new moms both with term and preemie babies. There are many products out there, but these helped me and my husband. Having a micro preemie wasn't in our plans, but we did the best we could with what we could find. We are still learning and loving watching our daughter grow and learn.

If you enjoyed this post and would like me to write more about my experience with a premature baby, feel free to leave a tip! Thank you so much for reading and I'll talk with you again soon!
