So those of you that have younger siblings might be thinking: "They are lucky they get away with everything" first of all, that is so true. However, being the youngest sibling is not all rainbows and butterflies here is a list of things that younger siblings understand.
1. The Baby
As a younger sibling, you will always be the baby. It does not matter how much you age or change, you are still the baby of the family. You might not get to do the things your older siblings did when they were your age. It sucks. However, you still get away with everything because of the "baby factor".
2. Younger children are usually less disciplined.
Parents are usually tired by this stage. To be perfectly honest they let the youngest children do whatever they want because the parents are now less strict and have let the little things go, which lets the youngest siblings run wild. The parents have the parenting thing down pat, so they don’t tend be so worried.
3. Food
By the time you get to the dessert table everything is either eaten by older siblings or your parents and then you need to find a compromise to make your own dessert.
4. Your babysitter was really your older sister.
She bosses you around and made you watch her favorite television shows rather than yours. You never got the first pick of what you wanted to do, but it made you the easy going person you are today.
5. Photographs
By the time you were born, photographs did not happen as often. Your oldest sibling has the most photos and you have the least. Your parents did not find you as amusing as their first. Even though you were 100 percent cuter than they were.
6. Being Treated as a Child
Your parents and family are way too overprotective of you. "It's only a weekend!" But, yes “only a weekend” in their minds is like a year with no one to look out for you.
7. The Slave
As a younger sibling, you were kind of the slave. Your older siblings would boss you around to do stuff for them and you did because their excuse was "I'm the oldest, so you have to listen to me" and that frankly they did not give you much of a choice.
8. Hand-Me-Downs
If your parents were stinking rich than you can skip this one. All your clothes were once worn by your older siblings, then you get to wear those clothes!…Yay! Although by the time the clothes got to you, they became out of style. However, now you get to wear that nice shirt you've always wanted.
9. Borrowing
If you borrowed something from your sister without asking, you had to run and hide because that sibling turns into a bloodlust monster.
10. Judgment
Older siblings will always be judgmental of what you wear and then you will be forced to wear clothes that are not really your style. But maybe that’s more of a people pleaser personality.
11. Being Well-Liked
Yes, we are cute and more well-liked than the older siblings. Do we have that trait because of the idea of being the baby of the family? Who does not like babies?
12. Being More Creative
Younger siblings tend to be more creative and I myself can vouch for that. I love to draw, paint, color, sing, play guitar, play games, theatre and write. So if that is not creative, then please tell me.
13. Confidence
We know what we are doing, we are more likely to have more selfies and more confidence than any other sibling.
14. We rely on others.
Younger siblings are used to others taking the lead and once we have to take the lead everything is a mess because we don't know what to do or how to act. We like to rely on others for being more responsible and having the mature nature.
15.Comparison
Ugh, this is the most annoying thing. When you have older siblings that have better grades than you, you will be told: "Why are you not like your sister?" And that's not fun. Teachers do this a lot and sadly, so do your parents. It's called cloning. Not happy with the results? Well, get a clone of my sister or brother!
16. Growing Up
Youngest siblings tend to want to grow up fast. No, sorry, we tend to grow up too fast. Our older siblings were expected to do certain things and then they complained and then we were roped in. Then, watching movies with your siblings such as The Summoning. They might have been twelve when you were only eight, therefore adjusting to scary movies much faster than they did. Now, you are able to watch any scary movie without flinching. (Or in my case, watching Lord of the Rings because it reminds me of my childhood/adolescence).
17. The best thing about older siblings is that they are always there for you...or to put the blame on you when something goes wrong because you’re adorable and can get away with it. Despite that, they love you and you love them.
