Oh Christmas Time, Oh Christmas Time

My Love-Hate Relationship with Christmas

PS. This is not my tree. My tree doesn't look anything close to this good, and the star fell off. I found this image on Google, so whoever took it, good job.

I love Christmas. This year I decided that it's my favourite time of the year. I thought that Halloween was, but as soon as December hit, I had that warm, fuzzy feeling and it made me realize that Christmas time truly was something magical. How can anyone be depressed during the holidays?

Well, the truth is, a lot of people can be depressed this time of the year.

I think Christmas is the most expensive holiday. Kids these days expect gifts that cost hundreds of dollars. They want the newest technology, toys that they shouldn't be having until they are teenagers. And then when they do become teenagers, they want even more!

Not to mention the cost of a tree, the decorations, and the food! They all cost so much, and it drives me crazy.

Sure, I'd love a house that is full of Christmas spirit, full of lights, and yummy smells coming from the kitchen. But realistically, it's not possible for most people.

I think that's what gets to me the most, is how ridiculous and expensive Christmas is. Hell, this year I spent an entire cheaque just for Christmas gifts for my family and I still didn't end up with much.

Other then how crazy money is around the holidays, the rest is usually a good time.

We wake up on Christmas morning, and wait for the family to come over before we open gifts. We spend some time together before heading out to meet up with the rest of our family. Then, we all have lunch together at my grandmothers and we play some really lame Christmas games and exchange gifts. And then we all split up. My family usually goes to my aunts for dinner of Turkey, mashed potatoes, carrots, and every other Christmas food possible.

This year is going to be different though. My grandparents are getting old so we decided to go out to lunch/dinner at some restaurant.

I would of liked to stick with the original plan, but as long as we are together, I don't mind what we do. That is what Christmas is all about anyways, right?

Anyways, I'm still looking forward to Christmas. And I hope that all of you are too, because it's such a magical time.

Be thankful for the people you love in your lives, and even if you don't have much, being together should be the best present.

Merry Christmas, from me to you.
