My Journey as a Mother Part 2

Part 2: End of Month 1 to Beginning of Month 3

Motherhood is very difficult and I now understand how it can be difficult. However, I still think motherhood is worth the difficulty. I could not be prouder to have my daughter. Yes, sometimes I have those moments that I wish I could put her back, but I come to my senses and what mother does not feel this way from time to time?

Since the last time I wrote my daughter has gone through a lot of leaps and changes. First, on January fourteenth two thousand eighteen she graced us with her beautiful laugh. A week before that she had learned how to smile and has not stopped doing so since. We have found out why she was being very colicky and whiny and that was because her body did not want me to pump and give her a bottle. So, now she solely eats from breasts. However, since figuring that out she has been growing at a rapid pace and I do not need to worry about her growth. Now, all I need to watch is her amount of sleep.

Another development she has learned is to hold up her head completely, though not for long. We also have found that she loves to interact with her reflection in the mirror. She laughs hysterically and touches the mirror every time. We have also put a free standing mobile over her to be able to interact with some toys.

She has also learned how to roll from her tummy to her back, though right now she is afraid of tummy time because she kept hitting her head lightly when she rolled over. I fixed that issues by taking the mat in her crib and laying it on the floor, allowing her a cushion to lay on and roll over on. I just need to get her back to liking tummy time.

Today she started bending her legs at the hips, so we are getting closer to crawling just need the back and arm strength to come in and she will be on her way. She also is starting to learn how to sit up. Whenever I sit her against my legs while on my tummy she uses her strength to lean forward and sit up. She is also getting better at self-soothing herself because we are able to put her in her rocker or crib and turn on some music and some movement on the television screen like those music visualizations on computers. She will cry for a little while or just watch the screen in fascination and then fall asleep and only wake if she is hungry or needs a diaper change. Granted there are some days she does not want to nap because the world is too fascinating, but eventually she gets to sleep. I am so proud of her achievements.

She also has had visits from my mom's friend and family and also my friend recently and loved them. She is a very social baby and loves interacting with other people. She will also coo and babble now trying to learn how to talk. Lately, I have decided to put a free standing over her mat from her pack n’ play on the floor and let her play with those toys during the day, so she is learning to grab at toys further away from her. She loves playing with those toys. It keeps her happy while I do my school work. A game that she loves to play is sticking out our tongues out at each other and blowing raspberries at each other. Well, she is still learning that. I love watching her grow and learn new things each day and I cannot wait to see the woman she grows into.
