Have a baby they said, it’ll be fun they said. Don’t get me wrong, there are so many times I find myself smiling and having the best time of my life but my story isn’t only going to tell you about the ups of being a mom because there are downs too!

When my spouse and I decided that we were ready to make our duo into a trio, I was so excited that I didn’t even think about anything else. Life was going to take care of that! I right away made an appointment to get my birth control taken out so we can start getting the baby making on a roll. I figured I was a going to be a fertile myrtle but I didn’t think it was going to happen so fast. I got my birth control taken out in September and was pregnant by Christmas. I already knew I was pregnant, just by the signs my body was giving me; plus I was a week late. But I was terrified to take a test! When I finally did, I was shaking so badly.

At this time we had roommates and I didn’t plan on telling anyone until I was at least three months along. I couldn’t hold the excitement in, we started telling our roommates first and some coworkers. We couldn’t wait to tell our families so I thought of a cute way to tell them and we surprised everyone! Let me tell you though, I was only scared to tell one person and that was my mom! We told everyone in one day and when we arrived at her house I got the biggest pit in my stomach. I thought I was going to be sick! We had lunch and hung out waiting for my little brother and his fiancé, who had also just announced they were pregnant. When it was finally time I was prepared to get a whole speech about how I’m still too young (22) and how I was going to ruin my life and blah, blah, blah. Instead she opened the gift and she cried. Got up and left the room. I remember thinking she’s disappointed in me but after hugging my step-dad, who was very excited, she came back and hugged me and whispered in my ear, “I’m so happy for you guys!”

It felt so nice to have our friends and family finally know and the next exciting event was getting to see the life I was growing on a screen. Little did I know what life really had in store for us!

So much for keeping it a secret...
