Moms Are Scared of Spiders, Too

No one really prepares you for parenthood.

No one really prepares you for parenthood. All those home classes you take in school are so easy to forget, especially when you never pay attention—except for the days you got to cook things... Now that was a day for full focus and empty bellies.

Becoming a mom was the best life promotion I could've ever asked for. Children are so precious and put out so many different beams to light up our world. It's true what they say, their minds are literal sponges. Anything you teach them, tell them, let them watch, they remember! They're brand new brains! The love and support, the care and the attention that is required is so important. Who doesn't want a mini me?

It's time to go, time to push, time to name, time to cherish. Your very body that you're hanging out in can create a life. A WHOLE LIFE. You! How much more incredible can that be? Did you have a flash back to sixth grade science class and remember what that video told you about sex? Well, this is what happens when your partner is successful. A child. You have your own beam of light.

The movies paint a pretty perfect picture when it comes to families. The Dad works, the kids are outstanding and go to school on a clean, yellow, super safe, bully free bus. Where's Mom? Oh, that's right. She's at home. That superwoman cape is really just a towel from yesterday's laundry. Our mask? You guessed it, it's also yesterday's make up we put on for no damn reason. Who will we save today? The laundry? The groceries? How about we save ourselves?

I've noticed that it was almost brainwashed into some of these wonder moms' brains that everything needs to be perfect. A pristine house, a hot meal, a hot body. We worry so much about the needs of others that when it's time to stop and relax, we almost forget how to. What makes you happy? Did you know sweatpants are okay to wear for a full 24 hours? Oh, yeah, the dishes you didn't feel like doing right after dinner will be there in the morning. I promise you, they don't turn into monsters and cause a food riot throughout the house. Having a glass of wine or watching that extra episode to catch up on your favorite TV show is 100 percent okay!

I like to think of us women as the rocks of homes sometimes. Can you imagine not doing anything around the house or even attempting to take care of anyone for a whole week? Complete and utter chaos. But guess what, the only way you can continue to fight crime and push along is if you take care of yourself first. Become truly happy with yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally. If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy! Take the time out of your day to give yourself just five minutes of you.

It doesn't make you weak and it doesn't mean you're a bad mom. We are human. You're a lot stronger than you think, you just have to dig deep sometimes to find that out. No matter how tough we are on the outside, the inside can crumble. After all, moms are scared of spiders too.
