It was spring break and we were camping. The weather was very warm and when the sun hit your skin, it felt so refreshed and new. My family and I only camped for one night.
Rainy Monday
It was our first day back to school after spring break. Our break was only like a week but at least we had it. We were all getting ready for school. It was storming really badly that morning. It was past 7 AM. I went downstairs and realized my brother wasn't down there yet. He has a schedule and always sticks to it. He is always downstairs usually before 7 or right at 7 to eat his breakfast. He eats cereal every morning. It's his favorite. I walk back upstairs and I hear a loud boom from my brother's room. I didn't know what it was. I knocked at his door a few times and called his name but I didn't hear anything. I decided to walk in. The way the walls were, I couldn't see his bathroom from where I was standing. I heard loud snoring and I didn't know what was going. My heart was beating so fast. I was terrified. I walked closer and I saw my brother on the floor, surrounded by blood. I ran downstairs and told my parents. While they were upstairs checking on him, I called 911... We didn't know what happened. My parents did right away and I didn't know until we were at the hospital.
Later on...
It took months and months for recovery. He is still recovering emotionally. At the beginning, the doctors told us if he lived, he would be in a coma for the rest of his life and he wouldn't have a normal life again. He had less than 5 percent of survival...
Thankful and Blessed
My brother now lives in the Sunshine State (Florida) and is currently happy. He has came a long way and I couldn't thank the Man Upstairs for everything he has done. He turned 17 back in May and he will be a senior this year. Speaking of school, he was a junior when his incident happened. They tested him once he was more active, and he got tested as a senior!!! It was one of the greatest news we've received. He has always been a very smart kid and still is. I'm so proud of him and how much he has improved. Sissy loves you, big Bubba. I don't know what I would do without you. I can't wait to hear your testimony one day. You have a huge future ahead of you!!
Now...
He went to Disney for his birthday and got to meet a lot of the characters in person!!
Always
Always tell someone how much you love them, how thankful you are for them. Always encourage, support, be there and always make them feel good about themselves because one day you never know when it could be their last day on this Earth.
