Goodnight, Jessica.

Jessica has a routine before she goes to sleep at night. She puts on her pajamas, she brushes her teeth, and she gives kisses. The routine is the same as any other seven-year-old's who are going to bed. She also has a routine after going to bed.

"Mommy?" calls Jessica. And her mommy comes in the bedroom.

"Yes sweetie?" her mommy answers.

"One thing. I'm thirsty. Can I have some juice?" So Jessica's mommy goes and gets her a glass of juice.

Jessica drinks her juice and says, "Thank you mommy."

"You're welcome honey. Goodnight," says her mommy.

Five minutes later, a noise comes from her bedroom, "Mommy?"

Jessica's mommy comes into her bedroom and asks, "Yes?"

"One thing," Jessica says, "What was nanny talking about?"

Jessica's mommy looked at her and said, "Nothing important, goodnight Jessica."

Jessica's mommy went to sit down in the living room. Ten minutes later she heard, "Mommy?" coming from Jessica's room.

As Jessica's mommy came in, she said, "Yes dear?"

"One thing," Jessica said, " I had a bad dream." Her mommy asked her what the dream was about. "Big scary monsters," answers Jessica.

Her mommy then asked her "And how do we get rid of big scary monsters in our dreams?"

Jessica thought for a moment and then said, "We think very hard about them turning into something funny, like a purple cow that hops like a rabbit. And then they turn into the purple cow and then hops like a rabbit."

"That's right," said her mommy, "and where is your goodnight-dream bear?"

"Right here," Jessica says while grabbing her big pink teddy bear with the red heart on it.

"Now hug your teddy," her mommy said, "And have sweet dreams." Her mommy kisses her one the tip of her cute little nose and said, "Now, I don't want to be called in here again unless it's really important."

"Mommy," Jessica says before her mother leaves the room.

And her mommy stopped at the door with her hands on her hips and says, "This better be important."

"One thing," Jessica says, again, with a smile, "You're the best mommy ever!" Jessica's mommy comes over, gives her a hug and a kiss, but before she could say goodnight Jessica said, "One more thing, I love you."

"I love you too," said her mommy. "Goodnight."

Jessica doesn't like potatoes.

On Monday, Jessica's mommy put one small spoonful of potatoes on Jessica's plate and Jessica said, "Nope. I don't like potatoes." After eating everything else on her plate, Jessica's mommy had to feed Jessica the two small bites of potatoes. Then Jessica said, "Mmm, potatoes are yummy!"

On Friday, Jessica's mommy put one small spoonful of potatoes on Jessica's plate and Jessica said, "Nope. I don't like potatoes." And after eating everything else on her plate, Jessica's mommy had to feed Jessica the two small bites of potatoes. Then Jessica said, "Mmm, potatoes are yummy!"

Jessica's mommy then asked Jessica, "Why did you say all week that you didn't like potatoes and then say how yummy they are after you eat them?"

Jessica's answer was very simple, "I just like saying that I don't like potatoes."

Jessica loves stories.

Jessica has always loved story time. She likes reading stories and she likes reading to people. She likes it when people read to her and she likes reading people stories that she has written.

Jessica's mommy had to tell her very often to stop yelling in the house. Jessica yelled when she got excited. Today was no different, Jessica had been told at least three times to stop yelling. And after being asked a third time to use her "inside voice," Jessica took her little feet and slammed them on the floor as she left the room.

"Mommy's no fun," Jessica told herself as she went into the living room. She started playing by her mommy's desk when she saw a notebook on it. She opened it to see what was in it. A story?

She started to read the story. It was about a girl named Jessica. Jessica thought to herself this is going to be a good story. She sat down on the chair and continued reading. At least until she got to the page where the writing ended. The story wasn't even finished. So Jessica got up and ran to her mommy. And in a very loud voice she said, "MOMMY! MOMMY! THIS STORY IS NOT FINISHED!"

She stopped herself very suddenly when she saw her mommy's face. Then, in a much quieter voice, Jessica said, "Wait, I know what you are going to say. You're going to tell me to stop yelling."

And Jessica turned around to walk out of the room when her mommy said, "You're right. That is exactly what I was going to say. I'm glad you remembered and then stopped yourself from yelling."

When Jessica turned to face her mommy again, her mommy was smiling. "Now, what were you saying about a story?"

Jessica came over and stood right in front of her mommy. She handed her mommy the notebook. "I found this book on your desk," Jessica said, "but the story isn't finished. It's about a beautiful princess named Jessica. It's not like my other books though. The letters look different."

Jessica's mommy smiled at her. Then she kissed the tip of her index finger and placed it on the tip of Jessica's cute little nose. Her mommy always kissed her nose this way. Jessica did this to her mommy as well.

"The letters are different in this story because they are written by hand," Jessica's mommy said."The story isn't finished because mommy hasn't finished writing it yet. This story was going to be one of your birthday presents. It's about you, my little princess."

Jessica's mommy leaned over and gave her a kiss on the tip of her nose and asked, "Did you want to help me finish the story now that you know about it?"

Jessica's answer was loud and clear, "YES!!"

Her mommy smiled at her as Jessica lowered her head a little. "Yes," Jessica said in a much lower voice.

Her mother picked up a pen and Jessica began telling her the rest of the story. And her mommy wrote down every word.
