Happy 27th Birthday, Baby

Honey, what can I say about your birthday? I am so glad that you made it into this world. I am sorry your sister did not, but I am so glad that instead of being with her, you are with me. I am glad you made it with minimal scarring. I am glad that you made it to the 23rd year when we would meet and become what we are today. I am glad that I have been able to spend these days with you. I look to another year after each one passes and I can't wait to be celebrating it with you again next year.

You know what I'm thinking when you tell me that your heart has been mine since 9/9/91? I'm thinking... wow he's been waiting for me for a long time. I think his true heart has only been for me, but how? Then I think about how sometimes you just know what you are going to have one day, you know who you want. Even if you are just dreaming about them in your sleep you know that one day you will find them. I dreamt about you without even knowing you. That is why when you talk to me about our song, "I Knew I Loved You" I know exactly what you are talking about I just really didn't want to tell you that before, at least not early on in the relationship. I don't have any problem telling you now. I had this dream many times of the man I would marry and like the song says "I think I dreamed you into life." Well, maybe not because by the time I had those dreams you were probably already born. Maybe I did dream you into life though. Maybe I dreamed you into the man you were supposed to be. Maybe you wouldn't be the man today that you could be if I hadn't dreamed about you. Now years later we have all of those dreams coming true.

Here's to 27 years; you may be a year older but that doesn't mean wiser. You still need to learn how to stay " yes dear." You still need to learn that "happy wife means happy life" hahaha, but I still love you though. You are now and will always be my birthday boy. I look forward to spending many birthdays with you. I wish I was with you today, but I know I can't be and it kills me as I'd much rather be with you today. I hope that we can turn your birthday around and you can be happy with at least one thing. By the time there's another birthday on a visit day, you will hopefully be home and we will celebrate together in any way you want.

This year we made your cheeseburgers, he made you crabby patties, the tuna helper you made for us before, and had a dad's rootbeer to cheers you. Then on your birthday night we'll have pizza, and ice cream cones, your favorite color of ice cream. You are missing another year of the Mollett cake in the face tradition. Your son says he's going to give you all of your year's worth when you come home. I will have the video camera ready. Maybe it will be so funny that we will make lots of money off of the video. We can call it "cake in dad's face" It will be a dream come true for you. You will see their joy in their smiles as their faces light up. You will hear the laughter in their voices.
