Food Fight

My mom announced that we had a family reunion the next day.

I sat there uncomfortably in the chair that felt as though I was sitting upon a flat rock. The room was loud and chaotic. There as food everywhere and my clothes were completely ruined. You are probably wondering how I got here... Let me explain the story.

It was a very normal day, the same as always. My mom announced that we had a family reunion the next day. I was sort of mad but also kinda not, sometimes those things could be fun. My mom told me that it was not just the close family, it was everyone.

It was finally the next day and I knew it was time for that reunion exactly 3:45 PM, the family started coming.

It was a loud knock.

Ugh, they were there. Reality set in as I stood there greeting everybody, it absolutely sucks. I could remember all of the stupid stuff they do.

After everybody settled in and stopped hugging and crying we actually had some time to do whatever we wanted. The young kids played hide and seek around the house as the older kids and adults talked and played poker. I can admit it was actually kind of fun for once. Things were going really well until my mom announced dinner.

"Dinner's ready! Everybody gather around," mom said.

I whispered, "Oh, here we go, I guess."

"What?" Grandma asked.

"Oh, nothing important," I replied to her.

We all walked over towards the kitchen in shame because we all knew what happened last year. Last year there was an incident, a problem. There was fighting, screaming, crying, etc. It was a disgrace. Anyway, we all went to the kitchen and sat down. Man, I always hated the kitchen chairs and table. The chairs are way to uncomfortable and the table is too big.

Later, when we were all seated, we got called in from youngest to oldest to get food. Once everybody was done getting their food we started eating and talking. At these types of things, that is where most of the drama goes down. This year there was drama between my mom and her sister. My mom's name is Anne and my aunt's name is Karen.

"So, Anne, how is finding your true love going?" my aunt Karen said.

"Uh, I guess it's okay," mom said.

"Yeah, okay, well, I hear you have men in and out at least once a week," Karen said.

My mom decided to reply with throwing food. Which is a horrible idea knowing my family.

"Boing" the fork made a noise as the mashed potatoes flew through the air like a bird flying through the air. Of course, my mom had to start it.

There were only two disturbing seconds of weird faces before my aunt Karen threw her ham far across the room at my mom.

One of the six years olds yelled, "FOOD FIGHT!"

Then he attempted to throw his macaroni but clearly failed at it. Everybody just looked and laughed, they thought it was so funny but my aunt was not having it. She picked up her old china plate and threw it at the wall. You could think how that would make my mom angry, those plates were passed on through the family for generations and she was lucky enough to get them. After seeing Karen mad, her son, Toby, who first threw his macaroni decided to throw even more.

The whole family went all out and nearly hurt their arms throwing things so hard. I knew it was going to happen, just did not know when. Then it happened, my clothes were hit and ruined. Screwed, I was screwed I was wearing a white shirt.

Soon there were cops... Apparently, the neighbors called the cops after they heard glass breaking and people screaming. The police said that we need to take care of this and fix our problem. My mom quickly told him what happened and he told my aunt that she would have to leave so no more problems could occur.

Karen was pretty mad about it and angrily left. Everybody was finally happy with everything and we asked some family to stay behind and to help clean. I am surprised they actually helped, my family can be pretty lazy.

It was finally time for everybody to leave, we were really happy to have the house clean and have them gone.

"Mom, we are never doing that again!" I said playfully.

She told me, "Oh, for sure."

We both laughed for a while and told each other our favorite parts of the day. The large stains on my shirt came out with a good wash!

That is my story, I hope you had some fun with it. I hope you learn that you should never have a family reunion, either this will happen or you will sit there looking at memes the whole time.
