Celebrating Women's Achievements on International Women's Day
Introduction International Women's Day (IWD) has been celebrated annually on March 8th since 1911 to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It started as a socialist political event but became a recognized holiday by the United Nations in 1977. IWD is an occasion to raise awareness about the ongoing struggle for gender equality and women's rights. It also serves as a call to action to accelerate gender parity, end discrimination, and support women's empowerment worldwide. Every year, millions of people around the world participate in events, rallies, and campaigns to celebrate and advocate for women's rights on International Women's Day.
