The Daily Struggle of Survival After Losing Your Child to a Tragedy
Every morning as I lay in my bed (for an hour or two) next to my three year old (waiting for him to wake up) I realize that I now exist between the realm of the living and the dead. I stare at the picture of my deceased son next to my bed and wonder if he sees me wake up. I begin to cry realizing that I wont see him again today. I toss and turn waiting for the smile of the little boy next to me, followed by his demands for either food, tv, or play. And it's at that moment that I am back into the realm of the living. Visually alive but somewhat dead inside. Let me take you to the morning my world split into two realities.

Diary of a Working Housewife (Part 10)
On April 12, 2020, I received to my private rescue, two beautiful Indian Ringneck baby birds with a condition called "spraddle legs". Spraddle-legs or splay-legs is a condition that happens when birds are still immature. It occurs when abnormal lateral forces on the legs and feet cause the long bones (femurs) and sockets of the upper leg (acetabula) to distort and bend outward or sideways. Both legs are usually affected by this condition. This can be caused by the mom sitting too hard or too long on them or not enough bedding in the nest box. In the case of these two baby birds, this condition was the result of not having enough bedding.

Diary of a Working Housewife (Part 9)
I must say this pandemic has us all looking for the next best series to get hooked on. With all gyms, parks, beaches, malls, and restaurants closed staying home without losing our minds has become a second job. We all need the distraction at a time like this and there is so much housework you can actually do before you go insane. I, myself have gone from one binge-watching to another and I can give you a few shows that will keep you glued to the TV and sending your kids to eat chocolate in their room just so they could leave you alone (not that I've done that).

Diary of a Working Housewife (Part 8)
Sunday October 13, 2019 8:05 AM: Looking back on the above picture I remember that night perfectly. The ICU was full and my triage nurse was up to her ears in emergencies. This beautiful Galah parrot was brought into my ER due to a bad wing trim. I was the ICU Nurse and Shift Supervisor that night. The owner did not want to part with her baby and my triage nurse explained to me that the bird was visibly in pain.

Saturday Oct 5th, 2019 8:50 AM: Dear Lord give me patience! This morning I woke up to another disaster I have to clean up. Once again I fell asleep before I let Khaleesi out of her playpen for the night. The outcome; a poop bomb exploded in her nice clean sleeping quarters. This is the usual result when Khali doesn't get her "play" time at night.

Sunday September 29th, 2019 12 PM: Why do women end relationships? A simple answer sums it all up... because they were unhappy. Being a woman myself, I can assure you that the last thing we want to do is start over! We will fight for a relationship/marriage for as long as our sanity allows us. But sometimes there are many reason this fight is fruitless.

Thursday April 12, 2019 7:00 AM: Surprise, Surprise! Vaping is not good for your lungs! CNN reports, "A sixth person has died from lung disease related to vaping, Kansas health officials said Tuesday." The Kansas resident was a woman over 50 and had a history of underlying health issues who became seriously sick after she started using e-cigarettes.

Whether by death or by circumstances, the all too painful experience makes you question your own existence. I, myself, have lost a child to miscarriage and another to circumstance. When I miscarried, I mourned, and with time I accepted this painful experience.

Wednesday July 25, 2018 9:30 AM: As I scroll through my daily feed of social media I can't help but feel a bit confused 😕... What has happened to raising children with family values, empathy, gratitude, and selflessness? What has happened to the adults? Are human beings evolving into ungrateful, self-centered, unfeeling, attention-seeking, drug-using robots? From drawing on thicker eyebrows to plumping lips with a suction device... individuals become copies of what they see on a screen. Being different and unique becomes weird. What used to be frowned upon becomes accepted. And in the end, we wonder: what is happening to the world today?

Wednesday March 21, 2018 9:30 PM: Do all women wonder how they got here? How society expects us to juggle home, children, love, work, drink eight glasses of water everyday, and squeeze in the exercise session in between the load of laundry, homework, and making dinner. We end up feeling like failures if we don't achieve our daily to-do lists. Sad and unrealistic expectations that today I give you all permission to set on fire! Yes! Throw them out the window! Let's start by blaming our mothers! These superwomen who have guilted us into thinking we have to be as great as they are! Now, I'm not going to dish on Mom because I will never hear the end of it, but let's be realistic. Times have changed. Back in the day—mind you I'm 40 years old—moms could stay at home and tend to the needs of their children and the household, one income covered it all, and life was a bit more simple. No, I did not say that it was a piece of cake, being a housewife never is. No sick days, no pay, all of the work and none of the appreciation. Yes, I get it! BUT add a job we have to go to and please ask us when do we sleep?! The answer is barely ever! Resentment sets in when our significant other gets to sleep in late or go to bed early. Little by little our moods shift and then BOOM! We no longer feel like ourselves after so much has been thrown unto us. As I'm writing this, I am sick with the flu and so is my five-month-old son. My significant other has decided he is exhausted and has gone to sleep. It is 9:30 PM and I haven't showered. I stayed home from work today to be able to take care of my sick son. In between his naps, I have washed towels, disinfected the bathroom, Lysol sprayed the door knobs, made my daughters bed (the top bunk), washed dishes, and prepared dinner. I have also worked on homework that was weeks overdue, (I am enrolled in an online program), usually the result of all the chores I have mentioned above. The struggle is real! The more time you spend trying to catch up to what you didn't get to do that day the deeper you sink into the abyss that is guilt. Depression? Yeah, that little monster kicks in once in a while and you just want to quit it all! Well ladies, it's time to STOP! Easier said than done, I know, but I'm on a mission, starting today, to liberate my fellow women from seeing themselves as anything other than what they truly are. You are all wonderful women! Follow me as I lead you into the struggles of a working housewife. Whether you are a single mom, have a boyfriend, or are a married woman, you will see how much we are all experiencing the same feelings and doubts. We as women must stop judging each other and attempt to support each other emotionally as much as we are able to. It's OK to throw those chicken nuggets in the oven for dinner tonight! It's OK to fabreeze that school uniform for your little one to wear tomorrow! Go take a bath! It's OK to be human! In my next diary entry, I will talk about myself in more detail and show you that you are not losing your mind. You are not a failure! I will bring my daily challenges into light and expose the imperfections of raising a family, maintaining a household, and keeping a relationship all the while going to work every day without looking like you just got hit by a train.
