What to think about while raising children

Being a mom is the best—and toughest—job in the world. Here are a few things to think about as you are doing the heavy lifting of raising a child.

The Business of the Job

Moms make everything happen in and outside of the home. They are the ones who remember the things that are needed to be done that the other members of the family usually forget or put off as of little importance. Moms are super stars because they most often are the ones that run the kids around to their sports practices, piano recitals, and play dates while Dad is at work. They are also the ones who take their kids their lunch or lunch money when they forget it at home.

We know there is a lot more that is to being a Mother and a lot of unseen things that they do. All of these things, whether they be out of love or just because they are necessary, they add stress to their lives. If you are a Mom reading this, you know about stress. Each of you need to know what to do when the stress becomes too much to manage in a healthy way. Do what makes you happy when this happens.

Time for You

Because of the stress of being a Mom, there is a need to take some time for yourself. Without this time to recharge and rejuvenate, it is hard to stay on top. The role that you play is so vital to the survival of the family that this makes taking time for you even more important. Take time for yourself and to chat with a friend, go out to lunch, get your nails done, buy a new blouse, get ready for the day everyday, and make sure you are still you as a Mom. Just as it is important to have relationship goals, you should also have personal development goals.

Do not forget who you used to be before becoming a Mom. Ask your friends or your husband to remind you if you forget. With this reminder, make sure you remind yourself by trying to implement those activities that you used to do into your schedule somehow, maybe when the kids are at school would work.

When it comes to time for you, you need money for you. Using your own money for you brings fulfillment and positivity in your life, and we all need some of that. Think of the talents you have and open your mind a little and think if whether or not you could make some money performing a skill you have. Talk about your idea with your loved ones and who knows, you might create your own little business out of it! But if not, do not get too discouraged, there are plenty of other ways to earn money, just keep an eye out for them.

Shopping Hacks

There are so many Moms who still use the plastic or paper grocery store bags when they go out to buy groceries for the week. Those bags rip and tear and sure enough, your food ends up rolling down your street. Something incredibly useful are reusable grocery bags because they do not have this problem. They are durable and can be used more than one time. They can be used as shopping bags at the grocery store, for when you go shopping for clothing, and also serve as a carry on for when you go on vacation.

There are also plenty of smartphone applications that can help you save money and get cash back on the items you buy. These are so much better than the old fashioned paper ones that I remember trying to save and use, but I always end up losing them because life is crazy that way. Paper coupons have become outdated, so help yourself out and find a good app on your phone to keep yourself organized about saving money.

All of this takes time and certainly does not happen overnight. Try one of these tips one at a time, see what you like and stick with it. Being a Mom is a process just like life.
